About Me.

I am excited and honored to be helping your students bring the Spring Musical to San Rafael Elementary! I created the Liberate Groundlings in the Youth: the found space theater project. A free access to all project which introduces Shakespeare’s work to students in outdoor spaces, teaching that art can be created anywhere for all.

My playwriting curriculum for elementary school children has been used in the Burbank Unified School District and helped Joaquin Miller Elementary achieve the California Distinguished School of the Arts twice. The program will be used as supplementary arts material at The Hammer Museum this summer.

My directorial work has been seen from Los Angeles to overseas, and I am a writer and an actor and proud member of SAG/AFTRA.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

To me, elementary arts is about enriching the student's self-esteem. A good theater teacher has the tremendous opportunity to instill confidence in students, preparing them to speak in public, connect emotionally with others and learn to work as a team. These learning milestones are the most important function of putting on a play or musical in school. In elementary education, I strive to take the competition out of any experience that encourages students to use their voices.
