Creative Vision
To help introduce The Gottman Institute's evolving digital presence, I conceved, produced, directed, and edited this brand film from start to finish. I developed the creative vision, captured the original B-roll, cast the voiceover artist and crafted a story that reflects the Institute's mission while establishing a modern visual identity for future media initiatives.
The Challenge with TED
Drs. John and Julie Gottman had spent decades teaching, presenting, and conducting workshops, but they had never delivered a fully memorized TED Talk. Preparing for the stage required a different creative process—one focused on refining delivery, building confidence, and shaping a performance that felt both polished and authentic.
Cultural Impact
The Bird Test
Inspired by Dr. John Gottman's research on "bids for connection," I developed the concept that became known online as The Bird Test - a simple, memorable way of explaining how small everyday interactions can strengthen or weaken relationships.
The video resonated across platforms, generating millions of views, widespread conversation, and coverage from creators, media outlets, and audiences around the world. It became one of the Institute's most recognizable pieces of digital content and introduced countless new viewers to Gottman's research.
